Drug Product (DP) Preformulation function is responsible for the physico-chemical characterization of BeOne’s new drug pipeline, developing formulations for animal PK and preclinical toxicological evaluations, assessing developability, and exploring delivery options to lay down a solid foundation for the subsequent drug product development. In this position you will be a key member of cross functional teams assessing developability of new chemical entities in BeOne’s discovery pipeline. The applicant should have strong knowledge of physicochemical and biopharmaceutical properties that are important for oral drug absorption and other drug delivery approaches. The candidate must collaborate effectively across disciplines to holistically assess developability and address needs and challenges. Job Descriptions: Lead physicochemical characterization of BeOne’s new chemical entities and developability assessment: Design and perform diverse in vitro and ex vivo assays to advise project teams on development potential. Partner with preclinical development for efficient execution of studies. Summarize results and draw conclusions in team meetings. Advocate the pharmaceutics perspective within CMC team settings to ensure that biopharmaceutical and physicochemical considerations are incorporated into formulation and process design/development. Provides pharmaceutics support to development projects and address challenges related to physicochemical aspects of drug molecules and dosage forms. Support the development of technologies and scientific innovations that improve DP’s capability of delivering small molecule pipeline. Advance scientific expertise within function. Proactively demonstrate leadership by advising and sharing knowledge with peers and management. Publish and/or present in conferences with manager’s supervision, build scientific connections in pharmaceutical science community.

PhD degree in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, biology, engineering or related fields. 0-2 years working experience on pharmaceutics, solid-state, formulation, analytical or other related fields of drug development. Fundamental understanding of physicochemical properties as related to drug delivery and preclinical and clinical formulation design. Working knowledge of physiological barriers to drug absorption, including various potential transport mechanisms. Working knowledge of formulation and process development. Technical expertise on common analytical tools for drug substance, formulation and process characterization (e.g. HPLC, DSC, TGA, PXRD, spectroscopy, drug release). Familiarity with basic statistical tools is a plus. Good learning agility, strong passion for science, and critical thinking. Capable of cross-functional teamwork. Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to clearly summarize results for presentation and report generation. Capable of using English as working language (verbal and writing).
